DIY Kids Pajama Pants Out Of a Pillow Case

Pillow case pajama pants tutorial:

Ok first thing you need to do is measure your child from their waist to the floor
(mine was 20in)

Then with the open part of the pillow down measure 2 1/2 inches more then the length you measured on the child
(mine was now 22 1/2 in)

Now using a rotary blade or scissors cut off the folded edge of the pillow case
(save the extra for another project I will show you later)

Next you will need to measure your child's inseam
(mine was 13in)

Then fold the pillow case in half with the open finished end of the case on the left
and measure a 2in triangle using your inseam measurement for the height of the triangle

Now you want the inseam to be roomy since these are pajama pant so I took 2 inches off the inseam height
(mine is now 11in)

Using the rotary blade cut out you inseam making two legs
Then Turn inside out for next step.

Next using a sewing machine sew down both sides of the pant legs, I also used a ziz-zag stitch at the inseam point for a little extra reinforcement

Now fold down the top (raw edge) of the pillow case to make a 1 1/2 in casing and pin in place

Using the sewing machine sew at 1/4 inch all the way around making the waist and casing

And last using a ribbon or elastic cut a small hole in the casing at the front of the pants and thread it through

Cinch it up and whalla you have an adorable pair of pajama pants that you just made out of a pillow case!!

Now as promised a little something extra to do with the extra piece you cut of the top of the pillow case:

OK I took an old t-shirt and and cut off the bottom and using the extra fabric from the pillow case top, I cut off the fold and made a roll hem, then ran a gather stitch on the other end, then I pinned the gathered edge right sides together to the t-shirt, and lastly I sewed it down and now my daughter not only has a cute pair of pants but a matching ruffle top!

And it would not be complete with out a head band, I made this using the extra piece i cut off the bottom of the t-shirt and then added a lace flower for extra cuteness!!

I hoped you enjoyed this tutorial!
